Ilona Lay: Winter Dream

To celebrate the start of the new year, Planet Literature cordially invites you to a poetic winter walk with Ilona Lay. The truth lies in our dreams, poetry gives it voice!

Winter Dream

As now winter is powdering the towns,
soothing the quarrels with silent wings;

as the forest rustles away from its roots,
hoisting its sail in the billowing sea of flakes;

as the earth knits itself a bridal robe,
embroidering the paths with white oblivion;

as the path becomes blurred with the meadows,
sacrificing its ambitions devoutly to infinity;

as everything emerges from its shell,
revealing its core in the crystalline feathers‘ dance –

you feel a smile envelop the world
that secretly sprinkles the fields with dreams.
